Grand Cru Brut Rosé Champagne

A small portion of Pinot Noir (which makes up approximately 80% of the blend) still wine is added for color; the balance is Chardonnay. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The Grand Rosé pours a pretty pink color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of raspberry, red apple, a mix of orchard citrus fruit, marzipan, a hint of brioche and lovely minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and round. Very easy to like. Drink now. Disgorged February of 2025. — 7 days ago

Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2022

2/2026. I’m not a big Pinot fan but this is nice. Flavor, slight boldness and sits well on the palate. Paired well with the stone crab claws at Halls Chophouse — a month ago

1hr+ decant. Dark red color with subtle bricking. Complex nose of massive blue fruit with caramel and cedar. Same on the palate with subtle tea. Medium plus depth and finish. Bottles like this are why I’ve been buying this every year for over a decade. — a month ago

Daumas Gassac

Mas de Daumas Gassac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2010

Coravin pour of the day. A 16-year old wine which is still showing some primary fruit, with black currant and black berry notes, but also some very nice, intoxicating tertiary notes like tar, leather, mushrooms, autumn forest floor. There is even a meaty touch in the rear. Bordeaux meets Provence (mourvedre and syrah) in a glass. The palate is showing a massive acid backbone, carrying this wine for a very long time. There is width, there is matter, in a word, this wine is substance. Blackberry and blackcurrant notes in the front, a chewy, grippy texture, some lively tannins leaving a drying, fine, textural layer over a very long finish which shows multi dimensions : black fruits first, meaty, mushroomy touches then, and a nice bitter note to top it off in the rear. Aimé Guibert was not kidding in Mondovino, his wines show their full potential after more than 7 years of cellar. A wonderful, hedonistic, experience. — a month ago
