Domaine Bois Vieux

Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2001

This CdP seems a bit more angry and wild from being opened, a touch more structure than the softer 2000 Bosquet des Papes (2001 was a more tannic vintage), solid balance, also mature, 13.5% ABV, longish finish. — 14 days ago

Brut Sous Bois Champagne Blend

Oaky, not seamless and integrated but also not over the top. There is good wine underneath the sheen of oak. If your thing you'll like it... — a month ago

Domaine Bois de Boursan

Châteauneuf-du-Pape White Rhône Blend 2024

Pretty nose of white flowers with citrus fruits.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with lemons, apples, pears, light earth, herbs and spices.

This is a very tasty white wine from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Rich and inviting, with a soft mouthfeel. Nicely balanced, complex and elegant.

Still young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, but already enjoyable even by itself. Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 years.

A touch buttry, fresh and easy drinking. A good quality wine, and good by itself or with food.

A blend of 35% Clairette, 35% Grenache Blanc, 15% Roussanne and 15% Bourboulenc. A small production of only 3,000 bottles.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

Domaine Bois de Boursan

Cuvée des Félix Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2022

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim, and medium plus intensity.

Pretty nose of raspberries, strawberries, light cedar, earth, herbs and chocolates.

Medium bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with raspberries, currants, plums, cooked cherries, spices, light oak, chocolates and peppercorn.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This young Grenache based blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, but already enjoyable, even by itself.

This great 2022 vintage is starting to drink nicely now. Well structured and nicely balanced, with a great mouthfeel.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 20 years.

Elegant and robust. Rich and fruit forward. Tannic and tangy. Interesting stuff.

A blend of 65% Grenache, 25% Mourvedre, 5% Syrah and 5% of other local grapes. Aged in used French oak barrels.

15% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

Vieux Château Certan

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2006

Beautiful medium dark rubi robe, reticent nose of blackcurrant, asphalt, tobacco and black cherries notes. It has density and quality of fruit, but ends on a dry port register. A faulted bottle ? In any case not worth the price and disappointing. — a month ago

Vieux Château Palon

Montagne-St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2021

Vieux Château Palon – 2021
Montagne-Saint-Émilion AOC – Right Bank, Bordeaux, France 🇫🇷

Overview
A distinctive Right Bank Bordeaux, this cuvée flips the classic Merlot-dominant Saint-Émilion script. Instead, it is crafted from 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Cabernet Franc, making it unusually bold, structured, and aromatically lifted for the appellation.

Aromas & Flavors
Blackcurrant, blackberry, and cassis dominate, with graphite, cedar, and tobacco leaf from the Cabernets. Subtle violet and peppery notes emerge from the Franc.

Mouthfeel
Firm tannins, medium-plus body, and a long, savory finish. More muscular and linear than many Montagne-Saint-Émilions, leaning toward Left Bank style but with Right Bank elegance.

Food Pairings
Grilled ribeye, lamb chops with rosemary, cassoulet, duck confit, aged Comté or Tomme de Savoie cheeses.

Verdict
An atypical but fascinating Montagne-Saint-Émilion that highlights Cabernet structure over Merlot plushness. For those who love Pauillac or Saint-Julien, this bottle is a bridge into the Right Bank world. Cheers!

Did You Know?
Montagne-Saint-Émilion is one of the four “satellite” appellations of Saint-Émilion, known for offering excellent value Bordeaux reds. Few estates here lean so heavily on Cabernet Sauvignon, which makes Palon stand out stylistically.
