Cuvée Réservé Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2023

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2023 pours a deep ruby/garnet with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity and moderate staining of the tears. On the nose the wine is developing with heady notes of tart cherry, mixed brambles, spearmint, red and purple flowers, old school permanent marker, licorice, tomato, green herbs, clove and stony earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and the body is, ooof…very nice. Another delicious vintage of Cuvée Réservée. Drink now through 2043. — 14 days ago

Cuvée Maclura Côtes-Du-Rhône Red Rhone Blend 2022

A nice, easy drinking Côtes du Rhône. Typical red and black fruit, a hint of black pepper, sauvage on the nose. Black fruit with meaty flavors on the palate; good acidity and length; moderate 14 abv. Balanced. A good pairing with a pretty spicy lamb Rogan Josh. — 6 months ago

Consistently love this effort but absolutely cannot find it in SoCal. Hit it multiple times in late winter/early spring in Tucson where I can find it. Beyond solid value play.

@Scott@Mister A’s-San Diego I agree, a good value; I don’t see it often in my market, either. Got lucky this year

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2000

Pegau CdP is always so great, rich Grenache w/dense, ripe redfruits, this 2000 CdP is more fruit forward than the more structured 2001 Vieux Donjon, both wines are outstanding, these 2 wines really well illustrate the 2000 vs. 2001 CdP vintage differences!! — 14 days ago

Cuvée Réserve Châteauneuf-du-Pape White Rhone Blend 2023

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of 90 minutes. The 2023 Cuvée Réservé Blanc pours a deep yellow color with medium+ viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of melons, a mix of white and yellow flowers, marmalade, tarragon, and wet stones. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ with an oily texture. Lovely stuff and better with air. Drink now through 2033. — 7 months ago

Cuvée Maclura Côtes du Rhône Red Rhone Blend 2022

Perfect Passover wine- pop n pour, extracted enough for those in the crowd who require power in their wine. More on the black cherry & blackberry spectrum. Clean, svelte, uncomplicated but not simple either. Enough cut too, perhaps moreso than previous vintages. Plus the bottle is like a Cadillac (well, like a luxury car, you choose. Im not crazy about Cadillacs). — a month ago

If all CNdPs were this good, I would drink a lot more of them. Still darker color and more fruit than I expected, but knit together perfectly. — a month ago

Very young, initially tannin forward masking the fruit but some cherry and raspberry lurking there, black tea, but lots of promise. — a year ago

The Nines by Law Grenache 2016

Shay A
9.4

I’ve had a few Law wines and have enjoyed them all, but this bottle of “The Nines” was a total stunner. In a lineup of 16 bottles of Grenache (Andremily, SQN, Fingers Crossed, Saxum, Lillian, Alban, Pegau Capo, Prefert, Clarendon Hills, etc), this was one of the more surprising wines of the day (in a good way).

100% Grenache. Removed the cork for about an hour ahead of time. Undeniable Grenache aromatics of red florals, cherry/kirsch liqueur, black peppered strawberries, and fruitcake. As Grenache so wonderfully does, it has a weightless yet commanding palate…kaleidoscope of red and black berries, sweet jerky, and an interplay of both sweet and spicy spices. Doesn’t show whole cluster/green hints like some of the others, and it also doesn’t show overwhelming vanilla/oak tannin either. Elegant and delicious.

May have underscored this…
